Hi my name is Robin Winston,
My most favorite passion is food. Smelling Food, Tasting Food and Cooking Food and even shopping for food. I really enjoy cooking for others and seeing the smile of satisfaction after they have finished eating.
I am a single mother of 4 beautiful children, 2 boys and 2 girls. I am also blessed with 3 perfect grand kids and 1 handsome smart great grandson. I have spent decades cooking for my family and all their friends. When my children were in their teens, our home would have a minimum of a dozen kids hanging out pretty much every day. Meal time was always a happy time with so many people. I always made sure all kids in the house ate, whether they were mine children or not. And boy could they eat. Sometimes I would actually set up supper like a buffet table lol. They loved everything I cooked. I am very proud to say that my oldest Daughter Felicia is an Executive Chef. She runs her own kitchen at River City Revival in Edmonton. Here is a link to their website https://www.revival-edmonton.com/ . She also has a food blog https://www.starlitesessions.com/blogs-byfelicia if you are from Edmonton or just visiting check them out. They have reopened for dine in now and delivery, but check their website for times and days. Co-vid has been really hard on the restaurant industry. We have to support our local businesses.
I live in Canada in the prairies. I just moved from Manitoba to Alberta last fall. I grew up in Winnipeg but I moved to other cities in Canada throughout my life. I lived in Alberta 30 years ago, Edmonton and Calgary and I am happy to be back here again.
I am a Newbie at blogging. I always wanted to have my own food website and I finally am going to give it a shot. I have been on early retirement for the last 5 years due to heart health issues. Unfortunately I didn’t get to utilize all that free time as I was pretty much bed ridden. One thing that would help motivate me to get up was cooking. Even though I felt weak and breathless, I still had a desire to cook. I went through a period of 7 months where I couldn’t taste food. It was agonizing as I love the taste of food. I would still try and cook hoping that because I made it I would be able to taste it. But no. I learnt to be extremely grateful for all the small things that we take for granted once I regained the ability to taste again. I have continued to be grateful everyday as my health is starting to stabilize. I have a great team of physicians now that I moved to Alberta. They have literally saved my life and continue to care for me to keep me alive with the proper medications and procedures. I profusely thank them at every appointment I have with them. With the help and care from my family and friends and physicians, I am on a very positive path to recovery.
I am going to take full advantage of my opportunity of a new life. I want to soak in and enjoy everything around me and venture into new beginnings. Meat and More Recipes is a new beginning for me. It gives me an excitement that I haven’t felt in a long time. I invite you to join me on my new journey. Let’s inspire each other.
