Easy, fast way to create your own taco bowls
It was many years ago when I ate my first Tortilla Shell bowl. It was when I worked at Taco Bell. I fell in love with it instantly. I was able to have a variety of salads all week long and then eat the bowl as well. I could have Beef, Chicken, Taco Hamburger meat or just a vegetarian Salad.
Those tortilla shells were deep fried. Deep Frying made them very crispy and tasty but not very healthy. These tortilla bowls could also be made in an oven. I found that they were a bit too hard from baking them. Finally along came the Air Fryer. The perfect equipment tool to imitate deep frying without a ton of oil.
I decided to Air Fry my tortilla bowls. I had purchased these really great tortilla shells from Amazon a couple of years ago. I have been in love with them ever since. They were not very expensive. It is a great way to add a great alternative for presenting salads.
This recipe only needs 2 ingredients. Small to Medium size Tortilla Shells. Choose the type that is suitable to your dietary needs whether that is Original, Whole Wheat, Grain, etc.
Brush oil on one side of tortilla with a silicone brush
Oil tortilla mold
Place non oiled side of shell into tortilla mold then place a ramekin dish in center. The ramekin dish will help to keep the well shape inside of the tortilla bowl. Set Air Fryer to 390 degrees and Air Fry for 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes remove ramekin dish and place back in to Air Fry for 2 - 3 minutes.
Once the shell is toasted on inside remove it from mold and let it cool.
